As part of GroupLens research, I am working on an algorithm to detect synonyms among the tags applied to movies in MovieLens. I will post a link to the results when I have some. Below are the other projects I have been working on. They are all interactive online systems running on LAMP. In general, I build all or most of the infrastructure and enable the users of each site to manage the content.
- River Watch Database
- My current project involves the design of an interactive online database tool for the River Watch program. Several schools and other volunteers go out to various points in the Red River basin and measure water characteristics. This tool will allow the ability for each participant to upload and verify the data collected before combining it with all of the existing data.

- Northern Minnesota
- The NorthernMinnesota.org website is a resource for people who want information regarding nature-related tourism in Northern Minnesota. The site includes a searchable database of more than 1,000 regional destinations.

- Local Foods Partnership
- The Local Foods Partnership is an online resource that enables those interested in eating locally grown foods to find producers near them. Each producer has their own customizable page that they can manage themselves.

- WebTools
- The University of Minnesota WebTools system is an ongoing project designed to supplement online collaboration, both in and out of the classroom. Tools include Polling, Bug Tracking, and a collaborative online Notebook. I have contributed substantially to various tools, but there aren't really any that I built entirely myself.
